Knole Park, Sevenoaks, Kent

18 October 2003

When traffic delays meant that we missed the last train of the day on the Spa Valley Railway in Royal Tunbridge Wells, we decided to pay a visit to the deer of Knole Park

The park is open every day for walkers (and dogs on leads), with a charge for car parking.

Knole House. Now in the ownership of the National Trust, it is one of the great treasure houses of England, with its
magnificent deer park. The original 15th-century house was enlarged and embellished in 1603 by the 1st Earl of Dorset,
one of Queen Elizabeth’s favourites, and has remained unaltered ever since – a rare survival.
