White Combe and Stoupdale Head

White Hall Knott
From the A595 near Fox and Goose Cottages, looking up to White Hall Knott, behind which lies White Combe.

Whicham Valley
Ascending the easy path, looking along the Whicham Valley to the sea.


George takes a breather under the shade of some bracken. It was surprisingly warm for only nine o'clock in the morning.

...and to the parent fell, Black Combe, across the combe itself, early in the morning looking very well lit rather than its more typical shadowy darkness.

We were buzzed by three aircraft, which rose towards us from the direction of Sellafield.

Whitecombe Beck and Black Combe
We gradually descend from the highest point towards the valley of Whitecombe Beck

Whicham Mill
Passing Whicham Mill, a last look back at White Hall Knott and Gray Crags before we reach the road.
