Duddon Valley Waterfalls
6 May 2008
A spur-of-the-moment purchase of a book about Lakeland waterfalls at the
Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway on Sunday resulted in a little expedition into
the upper Duddon Valley.
George and Ellie enjoying the sunshine, with Harter Fell in the background and
the River Duddon in the dip between us and the trees

After some exploration through the woods, we reach the first objective, this
waterfall on Grassguards Gill
Lucy and Ellie enjoying the view - unfortunately the waterfall was too big to
capture from here in a single photo

About 300 metres upstream from Fickle Steps is this attractive waterfall on Wet
Gill. There has been some tree felling going on, and as a result the ground is
littered with forestry waste, which is a shame, as it could have more
effectively opened up this fall and the zig-zagging course of the gill above the
main fall.
Lucy and the dogs take a brief pause before we retrace our steps back to the
car.
