Yorkshire Dales Holiday - Grassington

16 to 23 July 2005

A week in the Yorkshire Dales, staying at this cottage in the small town of Grassington, in Wharfedale, north of Skipton

George in the back garden of Ivy Cottage

The cottages in Garrs Lane

Walking down the lane past the fish & chip shop...

...past the Lucyfold tea room and Black Horse hotel...

...to the square of this delightful small town.

Looking along the narrow Sedber Lane from Grassington down to the River Wharf, with Burnsall & Thorpe Fell and Cracoe Fell behind, part of the large upland area of Barden Moor

At the river, looking past one of the weirs to the footbridge by Linton Falls

The two weirs above Linton Falls

Henry and Ellie swimming

And excited afterwards

The limestone grassland of Lea Green above Grassington

George and little bits of limestone pavement

Looking from Lea Green towards Thorpe Fell

Grassington from Lea Green with Burnsall & Thorpe Fell behind

George squeezing through a very narrow stile

The Dales Way crosses a wall, taking it further away from the route marked on the OS maps, both old and new: at least it is well signed on the ground
