Lake District:
Yew Bank
29 April 2005
After a good journey to the Lakes from London, a late afternoon walk from
Woodland onto Yew Bank
Walking along the pleasant walled lane
Yew Bank and bluebells in the lane
George takes a breather
And then takes exception to the summit cairn: quite what he thought it was,
wasn't clear, but quite atypically he barked at it furiously!
George makes his peace with the cairn
Panoramic view to the north, from the Coniston fells on the left across to Top
O'Selside
Across Broughton moor to the Coniston fells: on the left is White Pike, White
Maiden and Walna Scar, Brown Pike, Buck Pike and Dow Crag, then the pass of
Goat's Hawse then the Old Man of Coniston.
Looking down the shallow valley of Mere Beck on Torver Low Common to the disused
reservoir
George poses for a last photo as we return to Woodland
Mother watches as her two youngsters keep nearby
