Cunswick Scar

30 December 2011

The weather forecast was for rain all day after a dry start. I slept longer than I'd intended but stuck to the plan of a shortish low level walk, which if the weather allowed could be extended, and if the weather was then continuing fine I had a second walk up my sleeve. I needn't have bothered!

It rained most of the drive here to the limestone ridge to the west of Kendal, but it was dry for the last ten minutes or so. Enjoying the dry weather, Hetty has her first run in the Lake District.

Ahead is Cunswick Scar

The large pile of stones on the summit, Hetty's first Outlying Wainwright summit - well done Hetty.

The rain set in just after we left the summit, and it was pretty steady as we neared the car park, so the initial plan of crossing the road to the south and visiting Scout Scar was put off for another day, and I drove to Kents Bank and watched the rain on the sea from the comfort of the car.

A pleasant little walk.

Total distance 4.6 km and 104 metres of ascent in 1 hours 8 mins
