A diversion en route to the Lake District provided the opportunity to bag
another Marilyn - Stephen's 100th (and
his 97th English Marilyn).

metres above sea level.

It was very misty - the fog is described in one reference as "locally infamous".

The hill is much scarred by a long history of quarrying...

...and now hosts radar arrays for the National Air Traffic Services

These monitor all aircraft within 100 miles as part of the national air traffic
control network.
