Stony Cove Pike - 19 August 2004

In fog and rain, the summit cairn on Stony Cove Pike (763m/2503ft), the summit of the fell called Caudale Moor by Wainwright

The path descending to Kirkstone Pass, where I was the only person parked in the car park - the weather was very wet!

Windermere appears out of the fog as we descend The Struggle towards Ambleside

Duddon Valley - 20 August 2004

Later in the day, a visit to Lambrigg Fell (339m/1112ft)

To the right, the Howgill Fells form the background...

...while to the left the end of the Whinfell-Grayrigg ridge, with the M6 just far enough away to merge into the background. A lovely way to end the day before our journey back to London
